100.000 at Casa de México

100.000 at Casa de México

Casa de Mexico in Spain is enveloped in a veil that softens its eclectic appearance. A porous, transparent layer enhances the building’s volume, lending it reflections and shimmers, while simultaneously lending it an air of mystery. The intervention blurs the building’s scale and creates a contemporary atmosphere. This light second skin, crafted from metal chain, evokes Aztec masks and the Mexican cultural penchant for the enigmatic. The concept of veiling and the conviction that our destiny is to slowly disappear have been present in literature since pre-Hispanic times. These ideas are expressed in some of Nezahualcóyotl’s poems, such as “I Perceive the Secret,” which begins by saying:

“I perceive the secret, the hidden,” and later,

“Like a painting, we will fade away.”
